Judg 3:1 “Now these are the nations which the Lord left, that He might test Israel by them” NKJV

The test can produce various results:

                1. failure

                                -no change in character

                                -a desire to please self not God (e.g. leeks, onions, garlic) a desire to go back to Egypt

                                -indifference (unconcerned) (lets go make a golden calf)

                2. Opportunity to defeat the enemy

1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking

whom he may devour”

                                James 4:7 “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you”

                3. Opportunity to grow; to use our faith. (James 1:3)

4. Successful negotiation of the test

                                -we see our heart in the test

                                – bringing about a change in the circumstance

-it can produce godly character

-we see the faithfulness of the Lord

                5. We find out if we love the Lord

                6. God amasses evidence for judgment (loss or reward)
